I know I haven't been blogging that much. I really want to keep blogging and all but somehow there's this thing called the lazies that keep creeping up on me. So I've finally got a really decent camera and I've took pics and all.
So I'm gonna blog about my trip to Hong Kong with Tsu.
So Sharon & Tsu went to Hong Kong! We got on our flight, feeling excited and worried about our nonexistent Cantonese speaking skills. After about 3 and a half hours, we landed in the Hong Kong international airport. (this is turning out into a really long and naggy post it seems).
We got our on-loan octopus card ($150) from a counter in the airport and the bus tickets for getting to our hotel from the airport. We got the Ocean Park combo ($295) which really saves a bit of money if you are counting. Hopped onto the Citybus that is supposed to get us to the nearest stop to our hotel and that's when the nightmare began.
Being the smartie that I am, I forgot to write down the address of the hotel we were staying at but I somehow remembered that its supposed to be 116 (It was actually 118). After asking people in English, walking up and down the same section of the street and asking a friend for the address and getting the wrong address, we finally called the hotel and got directions.
It was a nightmarish hour with our luggage and all. But finally all is well, we checked in and got the well-deserved rest we needed.
Day 1
We got up and had breakfast at a nearby restaurant. Tsu has this booklet with 50 Must-try foods in Hong Kong. It was a pretty good guide for people who had no idea where to eat in Hong Kong. So we went to Lok Yuen Noodle in Fa Yuen Street which is really near our hotel.
Tsu had the fish dumpling (not sure what's its official name) and I had the beef ball noodles.
Then we headed to Tomorrowland and the first ride we took was Space Mountain which was the scariest ride in Disneyland. lol. It was quite thrilling and at the end there were flashing lights and all. Next we went to the Astro Blaster which is a Buzz Lightyear ride. It was a ride plus a shooting game! We returned there and went on it a total of 5 times while waiting for the fireworks.

Day 1

Overall, the dumpling and beef balls are really really good. But the noodles and the broth was disappointing.
Then we got on the MTR and took the train to Central to go to the Peak. The main attractions there are the Sky Terrace and Wax Museum. We paid $200 for return tram rides, Wax Museum tickets and entrance to the Sky Terrace.

It was a pretty gloomy day when we went to the peak (it was pretty gloomy on most days that we were in Hong Kong), so didn't really enjoy the Sky Terrace as much as I thought I would.
Day 2
Went to Ocean Park but not before having some breakfast. We wanted to try a typical Hong Kong Char Chan Teng. So we followed the recommendations in the book and ended up in Wing Hop Shing Restaurant. We had a hard time finding the place but with a little help from the locals, we got there in the end.

The food was good and we enjoyed it a lot. The Milk Tea was somewhat different from what I expected. I guess I should go to Hong Kong expecting mamak teh tarik. It was on the pricey side but it was near Central and food there is a bit more expensive.
Then from Admiralty MTR station, we took the Ocean Park express bus (return tickets came in the Citybus Ocean Park Combo). We were dropped off at the Waterfront entrance. There are two areas in Ocean Park, the Waterfront and the Summit.

We went to see pandas, giant ones and red pandas. We had a lot of fun observing them. And we also bought some memorabilia! Both of us bought the panda hairbands and I bought a cute little seal light thing. Wasn't too expensive, $35 each. The seal show was a really nice.
Next we went up to the summit which houses most of the thrill rides. We just went up on two though but both were great. The first one was The Flash. Really awesome ride! Tsu was the one who forced me. I was freaking out before going on and wanted to run away.. hahaha... but in the end Tsu was the one who felt horrible after the ride. It felt so peaceful being up there. The scenery around the park was amazing.
We had corndogs which I didn't like for lunch and went on another ride, The Eagle which was ok. We arrived in ocean park at about 11am and didn't have time to go for all the rides. If I have the chance to go again, I would definitely go for all the rides. I didn't take any photos once we got up to the Summit. Best avoid the YangTze river exploration attraction. It was small and didn't have much.
Took the Ocean Park train back to the Waterfront. Was a very interesting ride.
Then we went to Tsim Sha Tsui for dinner and for the Symphony of Lights. It was OK. Not bad. lol. The light show can be viewed from the Arena of Stars. We took photos of the hand prints and stuff. Nothing really interesting.
Day 3
Disneyland day! This time we made sure we got there at opening time so that we could enjoy the best of it. We got there a little before 10 and waited. First thing we did was wait in the line to take a photo with the famous Disney couple, Mickey and Minnie mouse!

The next place we went to was Fantasyland. Most of the rides there were kiddy rides. The only things we did there was go to the Philharmagic show which is a 4D show, the Golden Mickey show and the Winnie the Pooh ride.
We headed back to Tomorrowland for the Stitch Encounter which is an interactive encounter with Stitch! It was funny and really fun! Tsu said this was similar to the Donkey attraction they had in Universal Studios.
The next area is Adventureland. This area had the least number of rides, River Cruise and Tarzan's Treehouse. The River Cruise was fun. Our guide, Michael was funny and entertaining. Its a bit of a

Had Mickey waffle and corn cob. The corn cob was the most flavourless corn I have ever eaten but the waffle was okay.
We stayed till 7pm for the fireworks and it was pretty epic. ^.^ A wonderful end to a wonderful day.
Day 4
Had breakfast at Lin Heung Teahouse for that authentic Hong Kong yumcha experience. Shared a table with an uncle that offered us tea and a nice chat. Overall the food was okay but it was really packed.
Then we headed to Tung Chung to shop at the Citygate Outlet Mall. Unfortunately, we didn't buy anything there. Even though Hong Kong currency is 0.4 times Malaysian ringgit, the prices were mostly above $99 and we didn't really find anything we like.
Was supposed to go to Ngong Ping but by the time we had lunch it was almost 2 and I got lazy, so we went back to Mongkok to rest.
Tsu felt sick the next day and we didn't do much except rest in our hotel room which wasn't too bad coz we had TV. >.<
On the last day, I finally met up with Andy who is from Hong Kong and we went to have breakfast. But it didn't end there... as we walked back to the hotel, he kept buying food for us!

But he was really a good guide! Even if it was just a short while. His parents gave us a ride to the airport~ Thanks aunty and uncle!!
We had a small shopping spree in the airport buying biscuits and stuff. Hong Kong airport is a nice place to while away the time while waiting for our flight. Hope Penang airport will get a face lift soon! Even the airport in JB is much much nicer.
Anyway, this is the end of the long long post. Will keep posting now that I found a quick and easy way to put photos in my posts. *wink*
